Orlando di Lasso (1532-1594) composed over 150 chansons, many published in anthologies (and later, single composer books) issued by Susato and Le Roy et Ballard. Lasso’s music came to have a dominant position in anthologies issued in Paris during the 1570’s and beyond. The presence here in Du Chemin’s chansonniers anticipates his growing stature in French music prints. James Haar, “Lassus, Orlande de,” New Grove 2, XIV, 295-322.
