Thomas Champion (called by his nickname, “Mithou” in our chansonnier and in other documents, too) composed and played the organ Paris and at the royal court between the 1550’s and the 1570’s. Brooks, Courtly Song in Late Sixteenth-Century France, p. 439, cites dates between 1562 and 1583, for courts of Charles IX and Henri III. Tours database credits this and seven other chansons from Attaingnant, Du Chemin, and Le Roy et Ballard imprints to “Daniel dit Mithou”
